NB SWS duplicate Ibidem record problem

Hello, fellow NBers.  Can anyone suggest the solution to the following problem with Ibidem in the latest SWS beta?  

I am taking notes, essay by essay, on a series of essays included within a single special edition of a journal and, being naturally lazy, am trying to create note-taking files and their record links by duplicating and then editing the Ibidem entry I created for the first essay in the series and then hitting either the record link icon or Ctrl-Shift-Q.  Ibidem does not want to comply.  It does not want to create either link or note-taking file for the new (duplicated, edited) entry.  Late last night I managed by a lot of bumbling around to induce it to work just once, but I can't remember what worked (accident?  persistence?), and now it won't do it at all.  I can't tell whether the function is three quarters broken or whether I am overlooking the magic step I happened upon last night.  

Have others encountered this problem?  Does anyone have any advice?
