Does anybody out there know how to tell Windows XP to use Times New Roman
when I hit Crtl-Shift-G to insert some Greek text? Steve says (see our brief
exchange below) that this should be done automatically by Windows but the
true fact is that it doesn't. In fact, Windows does some the following when
I switch to Greek:
On my desktop machine, using Adobe Garamond Pro as default typeface, it
produces blank spaces.
" " " " , using Adobe Garamond as default
typeface, it produces blanck square boxes.
On a Vaio laptop, using Adobe Garamond Pro as default typeface, it produces
blank spaces again.
" " " , using Adobe Garamond as default typeface, it
produces the desired Greek set inTimes New Roman.
Now this can only mean that in the VAIO there is something which is actually
missing in the desktop PC. I found an area in the desktop WIN.INI which is
assigned to "Fonts". It is on the "16 bit applications support" section, but
it is empty.
I'd very much appreciate some help from an Windows experienced user.
Best,
Enrique
