Footnotes and Formatting

I'm using LWS 8x, and I have come across the strangest behaviour in NB I
ever witnessed:
Whenever I change the format of the footnotes or separator, all formatting
for line-spacing and line-leading disappears. It happened in more than one
file, and since I was converting some word-files a colleague sent me, I
thought it was part of his files. But it also happened in a file I started
in NB from scratch. Is that my machine that is creating th eproblem or some
strange setting or is it reproducable?
