Dear all – After the false alarm of this past summer,
my lap-top now truly does need to be replaced: I dropped it yesterday morning and
rather thoroughly busted the lcd screen (though the cpu is so far still working
just fine). Having been told by Gateway tech-support that it will take
$599 and a 3 week wait to fix it, I’ll up-grade to newer technology,
thank you. One of the lap-tops I am seriously
considering is the Dell XPS M140 (others are the HP dv1000t, dv1520, or dv4000).
It runs the Windows XP Media Center OS rather than the “standard”
Windows XP, and I’m wondering if anyone else out there is running NB on
this OS, and if so, if you’ve run into any concerns (or great benefits!)
I should know about. Private thoughts on any of the lap-top models under
