The various methods described here already will hide text, but there is
no "print/ don't print" option. When I've needed that (to print a
syllabus with and without comments to myself), I've set up three styles
(SS) at the top; two in a row have the same name and one of these turns
the foreground = font color white, the other does nothing.
<<SSnoprint, fg=255,255,255 or whatever it is>>
<<SSnoprint,>>
Whichever one is placed second takes effect. But when I need to I go into
"show codes" and put an LB in front of the second ss (<<LBSSnoprint>>)
which simply cancels it. The optional text then has <<USnoprint>> in
front of it and the operative SS command rules. The third SS follows the
optional text and reasserts a black font; it's otiose in the cases where I
hadn't changed the font, but harmless. Note however, that the text always
occupies space. This method allows me to change a document globally,
rather than search for each item hidden in IV brackets.
