Many
have asked for a definition of hidden text. I'm sorry that I did not explain it
before. Hidden text in word is text which exists in the document but is hidden
in that it can be shown or not, printed or not. It is a character feature much
like point size, font, etc. are. Take this, for example, assuming that the
sentence in all caps is marked as "hidden text":
Nota
Bene is used by great scholars. I USE NOTA BENE. Therefore I am a
great scholar.
I can
tell Word to show and print hidden text, and I'll see example just as it is both
on screen and in print. If I tell Word to show hidden text on screen but not
print it, I'll see it as above on screen but it will print like
this:
Nota Bene
is used by great scholars. Therefore I am a great
scholar.
I could also tell word not to show it on screen and it
will disappear as above. The text is still in the doc, though, and it will show
or print if I instruct Word to do so.

Does Nota Bene have anything akin to Word's "hidden text"? I have looked for something like this and not found it yet. Michael Burer |
