Hi Barrie,
try opening the style manual dialog using Format > Style Manual. My
guess is that the new templates will be in the "Style Manual" drop-down
list at the bottom of the dialog, and that when you attempt to use
them, you'll get a "file not found" message. If they're not in the
drop-down list, look for something like "Other customized templates,"
and choose that. This will give you the option to install the new
ones, after which they'll appear in the drop-down list, but may not
work.
In other words, I think we're grappling with the same problem, but
we've been getting at it via different routes (File > New vs. Format >
Style Manual).
