In my mailer (Eudora) I have a mailbox for mail from the NB list, and
another called 'NBKeep', into which I drag NB list messages that contain
useful tips.
Yesterday I realised that I'd been accumulating these since early 2001, but
had hardly ever looked back at them, because it's so hard to find the
information I vaguely remember being in there somewhere. Then inspiration
struck. A Eudora .MBX file is just a text (or at worst html) file. I made
an Orbis textbase 'NBList', consisting of NBKEEP.MBX and a few messages I'd
saved separately as files. I used 'paragraphs, double' as the unit (the
separator). This was because some emails have hard CRs at the end of every
line, and I don't want to see just one line at a time, but a whole para.
I indexed; I did a few searches; and I'm really pleased. It makes my saved
tips much more accessible. And of course Orbis will update to include any
new messages I drag into the 'NBKeep' mailbox.
