Opening NB in a smaller window did not help in this particular case. But I phoned Steve at NB tech support, and he told me what to do to correct the problem. Apparently I somehow introduced a corruption into a file in the frameworks template directory. To fix it I selected Tools/Defaults/Frameworks[user customized], and restored only the user modified files to their original defaults.

By the way, I have found Steve to be a very knowledgeable and helpful person. I like him very much.
