It is from the old common form of Scandinavian languages. Sleipnir is
the eight-legged horse of the god Odin. The closest modern equivalent to
the old form of Scandinavian languages is - in most respects - Islandic.
In that tongue the "ei" is pronounced like "ai" in "mainly". In Danish -
my language - the "ei" is pronounced like the "i" in "like".
