I think what you want is possible but probably not with a little
tweaking on your part. First: get 6.1; everything works better.
(And try converting to .rtf instead of to other word processors
directly). Second: Are you using default or custom conversion from
NBDos in NBW? Some of what you want you may have written into the
defaults of the DOS version, and these are different from the
defaults of NBW. If you use "custom" NB will, I think, pick up your
DOS defaults and write them into the NBW file; alternatively, and
perhaps better, adjust your NBW defaults to get closer to what you
want (under Tools, preferences). For numbers of lines per page make
sure you turn off widows/orphans, and set maximum, minimum, and
normal bottom margin to the same figure, which gives you a constant
bottom margin. Make sure you haven't got AL=1 on by default. The
problem of different widths may get tricky, depending on what you
used to set them in the earlier version. At one point we were all
encouraged to use OF to handle variable left margins, but now you
can't do that, you need to use IP (which now sets right margin as
well as left). Your best bet is probably to set OF to the maximum
you want in your NBW default, then erase whatever you have at the top
of the converted file and insert the IP delta after the header delta.
If you relied on different OF for header and file body (which I don't
think you can do now, but I haven't tried) and then kept resetting IP
within the body, you may have to write a program that changes all the
IP's to new values.
