Re: Two questions: hyphens and disappearing footnotes



I have the same problem with the soft hyphen as Ulrich has (version 6
prerelease 2). This is clearly a feature that was not there in NB4.
True, a format delta such as <<mdbo>> in the middle of a word would
confuse even NB4, but a mere soft hyphen would not. By contrast, NB 6
prerel 2 treats the soft hyphen as a word separator for many purposes,
such as defining and transposing. I think this is clearly an unwelcome
feature, a bug.

One way to avoid those problems would be to avoid using soft hyphens in
the first place -- or add them only at the last stage if or when you
need to get a neat printout from NB.
