Re: Two questions: hyphens and disappearing footnotes
Ulrich,
As to the conversion using RTF and losing footnotes, this is not
unusual. RTF conversions are not designed to convert every single
content in files. Similarly, conversion of RTF files into MS Word's DOC
format does not always do justice to all elements. Rather, one format
does better than the other for certain things, such as cellular tables,
footnotes, etc. (I keep forgetting which is better for what types of
content). I usually try importing in both formats, and in these cases,
I use MS Word pretty much like a utility: that is, bring the file into
Word and if the recongition is better save it as DOC and then bring it
to NB. But bear in mind that MS Word's RTF filters are not without
flaws. Indeed, I find myself using Word as a utility, much like
zipping programs or graphic conversion utilities.
Happy New Year to all members of the list. May it bring peace of heart
and mind.
