Two questions: hyphens and disappearing footnotes

Dear list,
now that I have the prerelease for version 6 - at last! -, I notice that 
two problems I had with earlier version are still there:
1. I have turned the autohyphenation off, because I write my texts in 
German. But inserting a "soft hyphen" (Ctrl -; i.e.: Ctrl \ on the 
German keyboard) obviously makes NB think that there are two or 
more seperated words, which is a problem when using the F11 key 
or the indexing function. Any suggestions how to avoid this?
2. When importing a rtf-file with footnotes NB seems to omit the 
notes: In codes view the mdsu / md-su markers are still there, but 
neither a footnote number between them nor the footnote text.
Am I doing something wrong?
