This sounds like a great idea.  For those interested in a non-NB solution, 
ClipCache (which has been mentioned here once or twice) has a macro to do 
exactly that (on a piece of text copied to the clipboard), as well as macros 
that trim space, tab, >, and other indents from e-mails, and do other useful
