Many thanks, William, for the Unicode information and links!  Pursuing that 
topic, I just discovered a site that the language fanatics here (you know who 
you are!) are bound to love:  http://www.omniglot.com.  The Omniglot Web site 
has this to say about its mission:  "To provide information about all writing 
systems and the languages they are used to write.  It currently contains 
details of over 100 different alphabets and syllabaries."
