Re: A crash

Bob,

I'm sorry, I cannot quote your message. My Toshiba laptop has just
crashed and I lost the answer I had written together with your last
posting.

As for the consistency issue I cannot answer to your question, but one
thing I know. However brilliant are the designers of NB I cannot
imagine them saying, upon preparing the transition from DOS to
Windows: "OK, W95 is a mess but let's build up a program which will
be operative and stable when the Millenium Windows comes out". I'm
afraid Siebert et al. certainly know their Golem will crash: why is that
Recover routine sent with the package? I believe, following Bruce's
point, that NBWin is a 16 bit program and has serious memory
problems. But does that mean that to work with NBWin we will all
have to move back to Win 3.1? Oh, my God!

In the meantime, yesterday I had one of those canonical "Invalid
handle" errors. I was working a a manuscript 200 pages long and I
decided to stop on page 64. I was able to save to A: and to a ZIP drive,
but I got the "Invalid handle" error trying to save to C: with Ctrl-S.
Think I finally ST it, but woke up this morning asking me paranoically:
what if the $%&" program did not save any of my corrections at all?

Best,
