Re: Non-NB Research productivity

Dear John,
I can understand your concern for transferring a multitude of files from the
DOS to the Windows version; I would only wonder why it has to be an
all-or-nothing proposition. That is, why not convert those files you currently
and/or most frequently work on, keep all others under the DOs version and
thereby have the relative advantages of both systems.

I remark on this because the Palm software that resides on the computer itself
is a Windows application. Thus, the process of transferring the contents of the
Palm, including the texts within the "Memo" function, which would be the way to
take the notes from the Palm to the word-processor, calls for a Windows-based
word-processor. Although technically, this is not necessarily so, the
cost-benefits in terms of time and labor make it uneconomical to use a
DOS-based processor.

I thus would consider the relative benefits of exploiting the capabilities of
both systems -- DOS and Windows -- to your advantage. And, by the way, what
does age have to do with all this anyway? research techniques have no time or
age boundaries, no?

All the best,
Mark
