| I have just purchased IBM's ViaVoice Pro Edition Release 8. I did so based

and

So did I; it came with a headset and as a dedicated German version. I gave
it a try - and it actually seems to do what it is supposed to do: writing
excerpts on books I prefer to read lying on a sopha. Of course, there is
still some amount of learning to be done but prospects seem good (a line
scanner being no alternative for two reasons: (a) paraphrasing inserts
necessary keywords for ORBIS; (b) most books of my project are set in German
Fraktur).
ViaVoice came in a one-language version, so I think Steve should ask IBM (or
Dragon) whether two-language versions are available; at least they could
make a special deal.
I don't know if this helps -
