Re: Crasha Bene!
Hi Andrew!
Hope all is well otherwise out there in the mountains. I have to concur with Robert, I'm running NBwin on both my office and home computer both of which operate with Win 2000. The operating system itself is a little slower than I would like even with lots of memory, but it is more stable with NB. I think NBwin generally likes to be pretty isolated, operating apart from other programs as it were, and Win 2000 seems to be better at giving it that illusion. Quick qualifier: I don't know enough about Win 2000 to be making any claims about "virtual machines," this is just an experiential observation.

I have just bought a new laptop, a very small but powerful laptop called a Sony VAIO. It comes with Windows 2000 ( a descendant not of Windowss 98 but of Windows NT, with which I have had no prior experience)
So far (I am afraid to put it into words, for fear it will make a liar of me) Nota Bene seems far more stable in Windows 2000 than it has been for me in Windows 98.
I constantly swap files back and forth between my desktop (running Windorw 98, the first version) and my laptop (with windows 2000),. On the desktop (a big old 450 mhz Gateway with something like 386k of RAM) Not Bene crashes regularly, as it has always done, but Nota Bene has not yet crashed on the new laptop (the Sony VIAO running Windows 2000 with 128k of RAM).
I post the observation for what it is worth; I have had only a week or so to check it out. Will be interested to learn if others have had the same experience.

Hey List Folk!
Is it just me or my system? Am I the only one for whom NBWin
Lingua crashes constantly? I can't even say how to reproduce
these crashes. Anything at any time can unexpectedly make NB
crash.
Andrew,
I end up with crashes and an error message indicating a general protection fault. Some of these crashes were random instances, I thought initially to do with getting my video settings right on a new computer after I had tweaked it a bit. But I get a general protection fault and system crashes after Ibidem freezes. When Ibidem freezes, I use the Ctr-Alt-Del to close down NBWin. I then restart the program, but if two or three times I repeat the sequence of Ibidem freeze, Ctr-Alt-Del, restart NBWin, then a general protection fault is reported, and I have to reboot my computer to have NBWin work properly. NBWinLingua is the only program that crashes on my machine.
BTW thanks for your further advice on possible offending characters for Ibidem. I will weed them out and see what happens.
