I think for this remedy to work you'd need to get ahold of a utility that 
logs everything that gets loaded at startup---from Registry settings as 
well as from the Startup folder.  I've noticed that NU loads a lot of stuff 
"invisibly," so I don't think that just removing items from the Startup 
folder or unchecking any option to load a module automatically from within 
the program(s) will be enough to fool Windows into thinking NU's not around 
anymore.
