Andrew,
         I end up with crashes and an error message indicating a general 
protection fault. Some of these crashes were random instances, I thought 
initially to do with getting my video settings right on a new computer 
after I had tweaked it a bit. But I get a general protection fault and 
system crashes after Ibidem freezes. When Ibidem freezes, I use the 
Ctr-Alt-Del to close down NBWin. I then restart the program, but if two or 
three times I repeat the sequence of Ibidem freeze, Ctr-Alt-Del, restart 
NBWin, then a general protection fault is reported, and I have to reboot my 
computer to have NBWin work properly. NBWinLingua is the only program that 
crashes on my machine.
         BTW thanks for your further advice on possible offending 
characters for Ibidem. I will weed them out and see what happens.
