Several days ago I too uninstalled Norton System Works 2000. Other than
freeing up some system resources (on my Win98SE machine) I haven't noticed
any other major differences. I've opened and closed several NBW files a
bunch since then, and while the primary filenames haven't been truncated
(yet), the .bak versions have. I've even deleted the .bak versions several
times, and each time I open the primary file and work in it, the.bak
version filename gets truncated.
Still, it's encouraging that the primary filenames haven't been
truncated. I wonder if I have to get rid of all Symantec products to get
reliable long filenames (I still have WinFaxPro and the Live Update module
installed).
