Re: Filename truncation
I checked with our tech support department about the filename truncation
issue. They have been getting sporadic complaints about this. Matt
Klaassen, who handles tech support calls full-time, says that he has
spoken to three people -- hardly an overwhelming number of complaints, but
enough to confirm that something is going on -- at least for some users,
on some systems. Steve Semple remembers speaking with someone with the
same complaint prior to version 5.2. None of us in the NB office have
encountered this problem, and, to our knowledge, no one has been able to
reproduce it. Reproducing the problem (i.e., defining a series of steps
that will consistently result in a truncated long file name) is the first
step in fixing it.
I appreciate the efforts of J.P. Earls and others who have tried to
reproduce the problem. If any of you are able to do this, it would be
very helpful to us. Please send any reports to Matt Klaassen at
technicalsupport@nospam.notabene.com. Matt will then try to reproduce the
problem on his computer and/or on other computers in the office, and
follow up with you and/or our programmers, as appropriate.
Thanks for your help.
