The sound prompt is controlled by the preferences menu, but I suppose you
have checked that already. When I am having troubles with sound, it usually
turns out that I have previously turned down the volume on my speakers
because I was getting annoyed by the sound in another program--but that is
probably my personal failing!
As for the instability--could it be a problem of insufficient memory? I am
low on memory myself (64MB), and find that NBW is prone to crash unless
unload other programs first (in my case, MS Outlook, a real memory hog, is
the big offender).
Pardon me for suggesting the obvious, but sometimes the obvious gets
overlooked, so I thought I would mention it.
Happy New Year, everyone!
