Thanks for your "random stabs." Turning the machine on and off and bypassing
the network don't seem to make a difference. The files I'm trying to print
are format-intensive and rather large, for the most part, but NB won't even
print my four-page introduction. On the other hand, it has (at odd
moments)printed other documents unrelated to my book. Go figure.

With respect to the sign next to your Xerox machine (Never let a mechanical
device know that you're in a hurry), I'm now trying to project an unhurried,
nonchalant demeanor whenever I'm in my office. I don't think the computer is
buying it, though.
