NB4.2 sort; thanks Joel, but file's okay

Thanks, Joel, but the file looks okay.  I also tried to change all sorts of
option settings, and all that happens is that the system blocks the materal
and puts "SORT" up at the prompt, and then has the cursor sit there
blinking and laughing at me like a three-year-old grandperson with an
attitude.  Maddening!
