I've had 3 different computers now in which the sort function of my NB4.2
just is dead. Zilch. It's NOT that the file is too large--I know all
about that. But even running a test to reorder
3
2
1
to
1
2
3
does not work. Just no response.
The first two computers on which the sort function failed were old (a 286
laptop and a 386 monochrome) and I didn't much care about them. But now
I'm trying to run it with Windows 95's version of DOS, with a nearly
state-of-the-computer, and I get the same ornery result.
Odd thing is, the sort program has worked in a 486 I had with Windows 3.11,
and with another Pentium with Windows 95.
I assume that they key is having the right match between 4.2 and DOS, but I
have no proof of that.
Does anybody recognize the problem and have a fix? New York, are you
listening?
