I think you're probably right about Adsoff changing things. Poorly
written installs can overwrite needed .dlls that are actually more
recent with different versions that just have a changed date.

Try reinstalling IE, which has hundreds of files that could include the
one that's causing the problem. Before you do, empty the cache, which is
where copies of your recently visited pages are temporarily stored.
