My apologies for this very non-NB question but it seemed to me that someone
on this list (rather than any other) is bound to know.
As I recall, a character in the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta "The Mikado"
(at least I think it's that one...), commenting on an apparently impossible
conundrum gives advice which purports to square the circle and ends with
"Nothing could be simpler!"
Does anyone have the detail and the quotable reference? I would be ever so
grateful.
