Lingua colors & Win98

-- [ From: Jerome T. Walsh * EMC.Ver #2.3 ] --

Folks,
Still having trouble with Lingua under Win98. (System is a Compaq Presario
2266, in case that's germane). Have received many suggestions about how to
correct the all-blue screen (in full-screen Lingua mode only; in a window, I
can read it, but of course can't get the Lingua characters). Nothing has
worked. I've tried Ctrl-Esc (with and without it checked as a Windows shortcut)
in vain; Ctrl-Alt-Esc gives me a black screen with readable words, but no real
control over my color choices; from there, Ctrl-Esc puts me back at all-blue.
I've tried blindly setting new text colors (F1, S, T, then fiddle); the various
background colors show up on the Set menu, and shift on the menu when I change
them, but do not change the all-blue screen even when I approve them with F5;
the foreground colors (the letters) don't show up, no matter what I do.
As for the Canon MultiPASS C3500, I am told by Canon that the printer
"doesn't support DOS". They recommend using the Epson LQ2550 printer driver
(as did several from the list), but they tell me that I have to exit windows
and restart in MS-DOS mode, plus reset the printer to DOS printing mode, to
print from a DOS program. I've been able to do it their way in ASCII, but not
in Lingua (the Epson LQ: Lingua driver hasn't worked), and I have not been able
to print either in ASCII or in Lingua when running in a DOS window or full-
screen session under W98. So, I guess I'll have to start getting impatient for
NBWin too.....
  Any further suggestions appreciated...
Jerry Walsh (still in NY, but still getting forwards from Africa...)
