Orbis crashes

SOS. My Orbis will not stay in orbit. In fact, it won't even
achieve orbit. It's been out whack ever since I had a disk disaster
a while back. I'm now attempting to start from scratch, but can't.
In desparation, I removed all files in the \NB4\Orbis directory & its
sub-directories that seemed to pertained to the old textbases. Then
I reinstalled Orbis from the distribution disk. Here's what's now
happening:
The Build Textbase routine works OK until I attempt to select files
for indexing from the Tree that Orbis generates for me. As soon as I
highlight a directory and attempt to choose it by pressing <Enter>,
Nota Bene crashes. This happens whether I am running NB in a DOS
window under WIN95 or have started the computer in MS-DOS mode.
If I'm in the DOS window, I get a message saying the program has
performed an illegal operation. If I am in MS-DOS mode, the screen
fills with garbage and the computer hangs completely.
Suggestions, anyone?
