Cheers to the NB Table Round & Best to everyone for '99..!
And special thanks to Szuchman, Lavenda, Hemenway et al for commentary on
NBWIN
Nevermind my congenital impatience, I'm sending $$ to NB for the
'prerelease' in that NB might need the funds - since I'm going
to buy the issue later in any case - it seems a fair gambit & worthy of
our support in this way.
To the comments I'd lake to add just this: given the technological
achievement of the past 15 years or so (bringing the 'puter age into the
hands & homes of everyday folks - well, I must admit - like me) the only
thing which seems certain is that we will be in a burgeoning process for a
long time to come - and we might imagine why some "Word-Processor from
Camelot" will one day (say 5-10 years) embrace all special needs - i.e.
whether 'legal' - 'scholar' - 'playwright' - 'screen-writer' - 'novelist'
- 'physics texts' - 'encrypted-billets-doux' etc. etc.
And so I'd guess "NB-Camelot" - way out there in the galaxies - will have
'billions and billions' of bit-codes & features but will triumph for
very simple reasons:
1. speed, speed, chrash-proof speed - fleet, transparent
2. XPL-like ability to be re-programmed on the fly by the user
3. ability to display & edit codes
4. everything else - style sheets, etc. etc.
5. and of course - *after writing* - WYSIWYG for dummies - i.e. for me
who believes that a good old "DOS font" is - *by far* - the fastest
& easiest on the eye - for heavy-duty writing
"Yes, Virginia, there IS a Santa Clause"
Yadz
P.S
And let's hope NB spends a little -
"even not that little long"
- on ADVERTISING
(with apologies to E. Young for the feeble paraphrase)
