Marilyn, I don't know if this will solve your problem or not, since I use a
HP 5L laserjet,  rather than a deskjet.  But FWIW, I used to have terrible
problems printing from NB in Win95--in fact, I could not print.  Eventually,
I discovered that there were two versions of the HP printer driver (NOT the
NB driver, but the Windows driver that you install when you install the
printer in Win95).  One uses PCL, which is an older method, but the only one
that works (for me) with Notabene.  The other--I forget what it is called,
except that it is not PCL--is much jazzier--it puts little windows on your
screen to tell you about any problems the printer is having (very handy if
you are on a network and the printer is in a different room someplace).  The
latter is the default program for the HP installation routine--so if you
installed the printer before you had NB 4.5, and just followed the
suggestions on the screen, you probably have it.

For me, the solution to my printing problems was to delete the printer
(Start-Settings-Printer, then highlight it, right click, and click delete)
and then reinstall it from the installation diskettes, choosing the PCL
version. Ever since doing that, I have been able to print with no
difficulty--and all my other programs still print fine (except for one Lotus
1-2-3- file that crashes whenever I try to print a graph, but I think that's
a Lotus problem, not a printer problem.)

As I said, the deskjet may be different, but check to see if it offers you a
PCL driver.
