List silence

I am posting this to Mary as well in case I can't reach the
List: there may be a problem with the server, or _I_ may have
a problem with it!

Yesterday I posted to the List in reply to Tom Craven
and the post bounced -- after some while -- with a
"too many hops" error message.  I checked full header
but couldn't see anything odd, though the post had been
through a fair number of gateways.

I reposted, it bounced; same error message.  But this time
full header showed that the "hops" were occurring at tau:
the post was moving from point A there to point B, back to
A, and so on and on.

This is a retry but also I thought I'd alert list members
in case the problem is more general.

PS      Last time I tried to go nomail the serv told me I wasn't
a member...

PS to Mary: my options aren't the same as yours: that's why
I couldn't work out how you got the list membership numbers.
