The characters you are attempting to print appear to be Lingua
special characters - by aleph and ayin I assume you mean the
transliteration symbols, not the Hebrew alphabet characters.  The
Lingua font is *only* a Times compatible font, although one of the
Hebrew fonts is (as I recall, I don't use it) drawn to be compatible
with Universe.  But to get what you want I think you'll need to use
FF5.
