ESL 7610 History of English for summer, 2006

An on-campus section of ESL 7610 History of English has been added
for Summer 06.  The course is on Piperline and is listed as a choice
for summer registration. The dates and times are:  Monday, Wednesday,
and Friday July 31, August 2, 4, 7 and 9 from 5:00 - 9:00.

ESL 7610 History of English Abroad Canceled - 
A message from Kathryn Heinze:

Dear SLTL Students,
Unfortunately, we just received word that the History of English tour
to Sweden, northern Germany and England has been canceled.  Airfare to
Europe (even London) has become outrageously expensive and even group
rates, which have been very difficult to come by this year, could not
bring the cost down.  Costs for the entire tour would be between
$3,500 and $4,000 dollars, not including tuition.  We will try again
next year and if the cost can be brought down to $3,000, we consider
planning something for summer of 2007.
Stay tuned and look for an announcement early next fall if you are
interested in the tour in summer 2007.  Many apologies to those of you
who were planning on it this summer.
If anyone wants to do the tour on one's own, I will be happy to
help you set up an independent study for History of English and supply
you with the information and resources have collected while planning
this.
