Accelerate English Language Learning with TPR Storytelling
Elizabeth Skelton, an ELL Teacher Trainer with the Colorado Department of
Education and curriculum author, is one of the nation¹s foremost experts on
TPR Storytelling for English Language Learners. Join Ms. Skelton for a
unique workshop on March 6-7 at the Minnesota Humanities Education Center in
Saint Paul.
TPR Storytelling (TPRS) goes beyond the familiar TPR. Interactive and
engaging stories provide context for presenting and practicing selected
linguistic goals. TPRS is commonly used as a sheltering strategy for
content-based instruction. The workshop addresses how language acquisition
principles can be applied in K-12 and adult settings.
For more information and a registration form, go to

Seeking students from Sierra Leone At Valley Middle
We have a 14-year-old boy from Sierra Leone who
was adopted by a Burnsville couple this fall. He would really like to
meet other teens from Sierra Leone so he can maintain his Creole
language and a connection to his culture. He has witnessed terrible atrocities
by
rebel forces and is very worried about his friends at the orphanage and
his adult siblinlgs who still live there. I know he would find solace
in spending time with others from Sierra Leone.
Please email Michelle.Shaffner@nospam.district196.org
if you have any students and/or families from
Sierra Leone with whom I could connect this boy and his adoptive parents.
Thanks,
Linda Prince
