Fulbright Scholar Opportunities in TEFL

Applications continue to be accepted for some Fulbright Scholar awards
for U.S. faculty or professionals to lecture abroad in applied
linguistics or TEFL during the 2006-2007 academic year. Opportunities
include awards in Algeria, Madagascar, Morocco, and Mozambique.
Lecturing would be in English.  U.S. citizenship is required for all
Fulbright Scholar lecturing awards.  A doctorate is required for
lecturing on English language in Algeria, while a Ph.D. or M.A. with
substantial experience in TEFL is required for Morocco.  A Ph.D. or M.A.
in TEFL or applied linguistics and at least three years' experience in
teacher training are required in Madagascar and Mozambique.

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
ENGLISH LANGUAGE and COMMUNICATION INSTRUCTOR
MAST INTERNATIONAL


Position Description

This is a part-time position for an instructor for a non-accredited combined 
English and Communication course for non-traditional students at the University 
of Minnesota.  The class will be made up of approximately 20-25 international 
agricultural trainees that have been in the United States between 4 and 8 
months.  The English language level will vary greatly.  This course is not a 
preparatory course for TOEFL.  The primary objective is to assist the students 
in gaining a better understanding of the English language through American 
culture.  The emphasis of the English language portion of the course is to 
improve basic skills in reading, writing, listening, speaking and vocabulary.  
The second 
objective of the course is to assist the students in various communications 
methods to make the most of their international experience.  This will include 
a study of resume writing and job interview processes.  The instructor will 
develop the curriculum with these objectives in mind.


COMMITMENT DATES

Tuesdays and Thursdays  10:30 am - 12:00 am     January 17 - May 4, 2006


LOCATION

VoTech Bldg - 1954 Buford Avenue Saint Paul campus of the U of MN


QUALIFICATIONS

TEFL certification and two years experience teaching ELLs at various levels 
required.  Experience in communication teaching methods is desired.
