RE: Support Paraprofessional * Bi-Lingual Spanish * Friendly Hills
Middle School
Effective immediately the Human Resources Office will accept letters of
interest for a Bi-Lingual Support Paraprofessional. This is a 6 hours/day
position, Monday - Friday, (7:45 a.m. * 2:15 p.m.) school days only. Salary
range is $11.47/hour - $12.52/hour.
Line of Authority: Building principal.
Primary Function: To assist Spanish-speaking students with the
instructional process.
Qualifications: Must demonstrate positive interpersonal skills and communicate
effectively; verbal and written fluency in both Spanish and English; ability
to translate documents into Spanish; ability to act as an interpreter in
conversations between staff and Spanish-speaking students and family members;
experience working with members of the Hispanic community focusing on their
cultural, economical, and social diversity; willingness to work in tutoring
situations with Spanish-speaking students; ability to work as a team member
with staff and parents.
Job Duties:
Working with student or small groups of students to reinforce learning of
skills introduced by teachers.
Assisting the teacher's in devising strategies for reinforcing skills based on
understanding of students' needs, interests and abilities.
Guiding independent study, enrichment work and remedial work set up and
assigned by the teachers.
Assisting with small group activities such as drill work, reading aloud,
storytelling and field trips.
Participating in in-service training programs as assigned.
Completion of clerical tasks related to translation of documents.
Other duties as assigned.
