English as a Second Language Teacher
The MN Literacy Council has a PT opening (17 hours per week, 4 evenings,
bimonthly Friday a.m. meetings) for an ESL teacher in South Minneapolis.
Teach beginning-level adult learners and provide support to volunteers.
Other duties include: student intake and assessment and student and
volunteer recruitment. Qualified candidate will have BA in Education or
related field and at least one year experience teaching ESL to adults.
Graduate-level coursework in Education preferred. Experience working
with people of diverse communities, excellent oral and written
communication skills, well-organized and able to meet deadlines. Spanish
fluency or Somali fluency a plus, but all resumes will be considered.
Functional Work English Instructor
The Minnesota Literacy Council has 2 part-time (25 hrs/wk, mornings)
openings in St. Paul for an instructor to teach Hmong and other adults
on MFIP intensive English so they can prepare for work. This position
will teach low-level learners English 20 hours per week, create lesson
plans, coordinate work site tours, and complete assessment and other
necessary paperwork. Qualified candidate will have a BA in Education,
ESL teaching, or related field and at least one year of adult ESL or
Workplace English teaching experience. Graduate-level coursework in
Education preferred.
