RE: ESL licensure
Dear Ann,
I am currently enrolled at Hamline University and am in the process of
completing my ESL K-12 licensure. After reviewing my application, you
previously indicated that I would need to complete a primary level
practicum. I am writing to enquire about the steps I would need to take to
fulfill that requirement.
In 1989-90, I taught ESL in Japan to children ranging in age from 3 to 17
years old. However, I am only licensed to teach at the secondary level in
the United States. This July, Prairie Elementary School, located in
Worthington, MN., is offering ESL classes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and
Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Would I be able to complete the
elementary component by volunteering for this program? If yes, what steps
do I need to take for varification, etc...?
Perhaps you recall that I am currently teaching ESL at the Worthington
Middle School and hope to eventually obtain a MA/ESL Degree through Hamline
University. I've appreciated your help in the past and thank you in advance
for your time.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Sieve
