A Request from Second Language Teaching & Learning

Hamline University Graduate School is preparing for a review by the
National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education in April.  As
part of this review, each department is creating a poster showcasing
program information and photos or examples of our students' work.  We
would be so grateful if you are willing to submit to us any digital
photos you have of yourself teaching that we could use on this poster. 
Our deadline to submit all materials is next Wednesday, March 23.

Adult ESL volunteers needed
Lincoln Adult Education Center has a few immediate-need volunteer
openings to work with adult ESL learners.
 
1.  We are looking for a volunteer to teach a 3-hour intermediate ESL
class one afternoon per week, 1-4pm.  This person will work under the
guidance of a teacher to plan and deliver instruction to a class of
15-20 learners.  Possible instructional areas are:  journal writing,
reading, listening, speaking, lifeskills, and grammar.  We would like
someone with ESL classroom teaching experience.
 
2.  There are multiple volunteering opportunities for lunch hour
(12-1)
tutoring or small group work.  Dedicated students want extra practice
(in addition to 12-15 hours of classtime) in speaking, writing, math,
homework help, or GED study.  A reading group is also an option.
 
3.  Finally, there are afternoon openings (anytime during 1-4, M-Th)
working with low-literacy level learners in classroom or small group
environments.

Dining Service announces hours revised hours
 
Hamline's Dining Service announces new hours for spring break
beginning
March 18. 
 
Sorin Dining Hall will be open through lunch on March 18 and be closed
until dinner on March 27.
 
The HUB Snack Bar will close at 2 p.m. on March 18 and will not
re-open
until March 28.
 
The HUBMobile Food Cart at the School of Law will close March 18 at
1:45 p.m. and not re-open again until March 28.
 
The Klas Cafe will close on March 18 at 2 p.m. It will not be open on
March 19 - 20. The Klas Cafe will be open for lunch service March 21 -
24 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  It will be closed March 25 - 27. The
Klas
Cafe will open for regular hours on March 28.
