This is a part-time position for an instructor for a non-accredited
combined English and Communication course for non-traditional students at the
Univ of Minnesota. The class will be made up of approx. 20-25 international
agricultural trainees that have been in the U.S. between 4 and 8 months. The
English language level will vary greatly. This course is not a preparatory
course for TOEFL. The primary objective is to assist the students in
gaining a better understanding of the English language through American
culture. The emphasis of the English language portion of the course is to
improve basic skills in reading, writing, listening, speaking and
vocabulary. The second objective of the course is to assist the students
in the various communications methods to make the most of their international
experience. This will include a study of resume writing and job interview
processes. The instructor will develop the curriculum with these
objectives in mind.
2004-5 Dates
Fall Semester 2004: Sept 7 - Dec 15, 2004
Spring Semester 2005: Jan 18 - May 6, 2005
The course will be taught twice weekely from 10:30 - 12:00 on Tuesday and
Thursday on the St Paul/Univ of Mn campus.
Qualifications
TEFL certification and two years experience teaching ELLs at various levels
required. Experience in communication teaching methods is desired.
