Re: MFC? OWL?
In the world of C++ windows programming, 2 companies(Microsoft and Borland)
developed libraries(in actuality, class frameworks) to simplify the process.
MFC(stands for Microsoft Foundation Class and OWL stands for Object Windows
Library(from borland). Borland has also introduced the VCL(Visual Component
Library) which is the driving force behind Delphi and C++ Builder. MFC is
pretty much the de facto standard out in the world, but it is old, complicated
and breaks some object oriented rules. OWL is a much more solid product but
VCL is far and away the best framework out there. Only problem is that
Borland doesn't have Microsoft's marketing clout, thusly, Borland isn't the
trend setter. C++ builder and Delphi both have large followings though(and
getting larger daily.)
