I have both on one of my systems, I did not do anything other than select a
drive that I wanted it to go to (the drive with Version 1 was a bit tight).
While I have not used both at the same time (actually, I think I did once) I
have not seen any problems with either version (at least none that were not
created by me).

I have never used command line compiles, however, (at least not since my DOS
days), so I cannot answer your second question. -- Clifton Mayo
