[BCB3} %c problems

Help :)
My project is throwing the following error at random, both when run
from within the IDE and stand-alone, whether built with debug or
release.
"Format '%c' invalid or incompatible argument"
It does not throw a catchable exception either from within the IDE run
or stand-alone, simply a message box, (error icon, OK), button. It is
at random, and frequently doesn't appear, but when it does the result
is system failure.
When run from the IDE, the error appears as an error of the IDE
application, sometime accepting it allows everything to continue, other
occasion the IDE and App freeze, (in the order App freeze, unable to
close from IDE or Win95, followed by IDE freeze, resulting in having to
close the system down and reboot, task manager fails to kill either
process properly:(.
When run stand-alone, the error message appears and can be accepted,
but (occasionally again?), the program causes a GPF, once closed ???
(*that is it terminates properly, but about 2 secs after the close has
completed, the GPF comes up. Clever thing here, when the GPF arrives,
the program thread is no longer running, causing the GPF terminate to
freeze the machine ?).
Is this me, (probable:), CBuilder or Win95 ?
Needless to say I can't catch the error, (another point, CPU view when
the error has occured shows no code, all blank addresses 00 ?).
Help is needed urgently as this project is beginning to fall behind. If
you know anything about said error, even what it means, please let me
know. (btw, I don't use a %c sprintf, printf, fprintf etc anywhere so
it may be something called in the VCL, but where ?).
				Thanks,
				Jon
