Re: [BCB3] Adding Custom Components to the Palette

RETRACTION::::: After talking with Borland Sales (LandLine) I was told that
there is what they're calling a "Special Upgrade" (at around $250) not to
be confused with the "Compeditive Upgrade". To get this one (not sold in
stores) you must order directly from Borland. Call 1-800-845-0147...

Now then, I've only "Played with this thing for one day" and I'm quite sure
that the Standard version 1 is better than the Standard version 3, as it
comes in the box. The IDE enhancements are fine with me, but this component
palette stuff is a total error. I've got a ton of components without source
codes, and a ton of
delphi components, and not one of them will work. Then, all of a sudden it
cant find "dclstd35.lib" and won't even load the palette anymore. I checked
the disk image on the CD, That library file doesn't exist. I found a
dclstd35.bpi but not a lib. If I saw a DLL I'd have tried to create one. I
have managed to only add three new components to a new package, and they
were C++. None of the pascal components are compatable??? Is this something
Borland thought would sell more books or something??? (noticing there was
no users guide this time, just Kent's book)
You guys all seem very happy with this upgrade. What gives?
No offense intended. The whole thing boils down to this. I've got three
heavy project on the fire. I'm using third party components, and some of my
modules are 20-30 pages long. "and I ain't start'in over". I'm glad that I
put version 3 on a separate partition on the HD, and if I can't get this
switched over, I'll be finishing these in version 1 through the spring.
Maybe by then "Someone" will rewrite some 300+ components to work in
version 3. BTW - I do buy the components when they're not free, but w/o
sources. I never planned on having to change a word or two in them, so most
of them were half price.
