You may be seing a side effect of the "old
paint problem", but I don't think so.  In general,
the TRichEdit in BCB1 does not repaint when 
resizing the height of the window, only when
resizing the width.  This is fixed in BCB3.

I have never modified the TRichEdit component,
so I can't offer you a lot of advice.  You will
almost definitely need to override WMPaint messages
and messages on the Scrollbars to redraw your images.
