More Saving Bitmaps to file

I found part of my access violation problem. Apparently I can create and
draw on a bitmap without specifying it's size but to use SaveToFile()
TBitmap must have it's Height and Width properties specified. The
defaults don't exist or aren't acceptable?

That makes some sense but it would have helped to get a warning somewhere
along the line or at least a better statement of what was missing when I
tried to save. Is there such documentation somewhere?

Is this a general feature of other objects such as TImage and TCanvas?
I'm especially wondering about the TPrinter() -> Canvas because that
isn't printing graphics for me just yet.
